Midnight Feast is a bold initiative that enables artists who experience significant physical and intellectual challenges to participate in the performing arts. We celebrate abilities not limitations. Our theatre explores humanity in all its diversity and challenges assumptions.
Our dream is to enable talented performers to reach their full potential as people and artists; participate and perform alongside their able bodied colleagues, to the enjoyment of audiences in Australia's capital cities, regional towns and select venues internationally.
THE BLUE BIRD
The Blue Bird is now flying also on NIDA website.
“The Blue Bird,” by Maurice Maeterlinck is one of the most adapted stories of the Twentieth Century. Telling the story of two children set the task of finding the Blue Bird of Happiness, it has enthralled generations, and now in association with Midnight Feast – theatre that unites, writer Stephen Sewell and legendary composer, Max Lambert are helping to develop an adaptation setting this still relevant search for happiness in the brutal world of conflict and fleeing refugees. With director Kylie Harris, as well as the performers of Midnight Feast, a bold creative team of writers, designers and all the many generous souls drawn to the ethos of Midnight Feast, Maeterlinck’s moving tale is being retold for a modern audience hungry itself for the Blue Bird of Happiness that flits enticingly and fitfully through all our lives. This is a story for today, and for everyone who hopes for something better.
